Invention and software registration

Your research results and innovative ideas deserve the best possible protection. For this reason, we support all members of the University of Wuppertal in the context of an invention disclosure and are always available to answer any questions you may have about your invention, employee inventor compensation and the associated administrative processes.

All processes are carried out in close cooperation with the patent and commercialisation agency PROvendis (subsidiary and central service provider for IP and property rights), which provides active support in the run-up to an invention disclosure.

As part of the technology development process, we recommend a free and non-binding invention consultation for employees and students. In an initial consultation, patenting and exploitation opportunities are discussed, formal requirements for invention disclosure are addressed and awareness of risks and avoidable mistakes is raised.

According to the German Employee Inventions Act (ArbnErfG), all inventions by university employees, regardless of whether they are the result of official work, secondary employment or third-party funded projects, must be reported to the employer in writing before the invention is published.

The invention disclosure form can be found under Downloads and Links to fill in and download.
