Call for applications for the DAAD Prize 2024

29.07.2024|11:08 Uhr

The Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW) has been awarding the DAAD Prize, which is funded by the Federal Foreign Office, for more than twenty years to international students and doctoral candidates who have distinguished themselves through special academic achievements combined with social commitment. BUW members can nominate students until 31 October 2024.

The DAAD prize, which is endowed with EUR 1,000, helps to give international students and doctoral candidates at BUW a face. The official award ceremony emphasises the importance of studying abroad to the public. The award winners represent their fellow students from all over the world. They are future partners for Germany in business, politics and science.

The DAAD Prize can be awarded to foreign students who are enrolled at the University of Wuppertal and are at an advanced stage of their Bachelor's (at least 2nd year) or Master's degree programme (at least 2nd semester). In addition, young graduates and doctoral candidates can also be nominated, although it should be noted that this is not a research prize and the DAAD prize is not intended to honour a doctoral thesis. Young graduates are students and doctoral candidates who graduated no more than three months ago at the time of selection.

Members of the University are requested to send nominations in electronic form to the Vice-Rector for Third Mission and International Affairs via the International Center (icenter[at]uni-wuppertal.de) with a short (max. half a page) acknowledgement including details of nationality and, in the case of students, an account statement showing their matriculation number, degree programme, semester and average grade. Self-nominations are not possible.

The submission deadline is 31 October 2024
