Indo-Pacific Guidelines of the German Government: New Opportunities for Scientific Cooperation
Scientific cooperation with countries in the Indo-Pacific provides access to a dynamic scientific region with over 5,000 collaborations between German and Indo-Pacific universities, without which many of our global challenges cannot be met. The German government has adopted the Indo-Pacific Guidelines to diversify and expand cooperation with countries in this region. The European Union has now also underlined the importance of the Indo-Pacific region with the new "EU strategy for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific".
Together with Prof. Dr. Nele Noesselt, Director of IN-EAST and Chair of the Board of the German Association for Asian Studies, Dr. Byeungkwan Park, Fraunhofer Representative in South Korea and Stefan Hase-Bergen, DAAD Head of Office Hanoi, the following key questions will be discussed, among others:

- What is the benefit of the German and European view of such a heterogeneous region with countries such as Singapore/South Korea/Japan or India/China?
- How is the concept of "value partnerships" to be applied in cooperation practice?
- What are the technical focal points?
- What challenges are apparent in current cooperation experiences?
- What are the needs of German universities and research institutions for successful cooperation?
