You can spend up to 12 months abroad with Erasmus+ per study phase (Bachelor's, Master's, doctorate), 24 months for the state examination. A second degree programme does not increase your entitlement to funding.
Previous Erasmus internships abroad and Erasmus funding from another university are taken into account.
Additional funding for Green Erasmus and inclusion
Green Erasmus and Inclusion are two new program priorities in which the funding opportunities are gradually being expanded. Further information on the top-ups can be found under the following links and below in the "FAQs".
Unfortunately, the new regulations do not apply to outgoing students to the UK, as their funding is still part of the Erasmus 2014-2020 program.

- In addition, Erasmus students/PhD students usually receive a mobility grant. The European destination countries are divided into three country groups with different funding rates according to the average cost of living.
If you choose not to travel by plane to your host country and instead travel by train, bus, carpool or bicycle, you will receive an additional flat-rate grant of €50 until the 2023/24 academic year. From the 2024/25 academic year, there will no longer be a flat-rate additional allowance of €50. Furthermore, additional travel days can be subsidised with the daily subsidy rate of your destination country (see above). For this purpose, students must submit a declaration of honour to the IO. For students with disabilities (from GdB 20), for students with chronic illnesses that result in additional costs abroad and for students with children, there is the possibility of additional funding in the Erasmus+ program. Students who are first-time graduates or in employment can also receive additional funding. All information on the Eramus+ top-ups can be found here.

Information on the funding amount in the ERASMUS program
The funding rates and funding criteria in the ERASMUS program are determined by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The maximum possible funding duration and amount are based on the sum approved by the DAAD in the so-called "Grant Agreement."
The scholarship amount for students is determined based on the information they provide on the duration of their stay in the "Application for ERASMUS Scholarship" and the available budget. With this in mind, it is possible that the financial ERASMUS funding period is shorter than the duration of the student's stay. Students will be informed of the exact amount of the grant when the Grant Agreements are sent out.
