"As part of an English/American Studies degree programme, a longer stay in an English-speaking country is highly recommended in order to improve your language skills and get to know the culture of the other country first-hand. There are various ways to realise a stay abroad. A distinction must be made between an academic year at a foreign university, during which you can also deepen your subject-related skills, and non-university stays abroad. Every year, the English/American Studies department arranges exchange places to study at universities in Ireland and North America."
