Reflecting on teaching
Evaluation of courses
Once a semester, lecturers evaluate their courses in good time before the end of the semester and discuss the results with their students. This closes the quality control loop at course level. Section 6.2 regularly invites students to the course evaluations and provides 19 questionnaire variants. It advises on the creation of its own questions and carries out the analyses. Once a year, teaching prizes (Teaching Lions) are awarded as part of the transparent course evaluation process.
Study programme development
Every two years, the BUW's quality control loop is closed at degree programme level in the so-called Bologna Check. Student and graduate surveys are analysed by section 6.2 and the results are discussed with teaching staff and students in the faculties. The results and suggestions for improvement for the further development of the degree programmes are recorded and published in quality reports.
Collegial exchange
Whether moderated or "self-directed": the University of Wuppertal promotes collegial exchange between teaching staff. In regular events, the Service Centre for Academic Staff Development offers introductions to the format of "collegial counselling" and appointments for a moderated exchange. In addition, it supports lecturers who wish to establish a collegial exchange in their subject or faculty on their own initiative.

Work shadowing
An important tool for reflecting on one's own teaching is job shadowing. All teaching staff can take advantage of a free observation session with an external or internal teaching coach and receive personalised and confidential feedback afterwards. In addition, the Service Centre for Academic Staff Development supports teaching staff who would like to take part in peer observation by providing information, advice and guidelines for this format.
