The Department of Construction Management and Construction Industry at the University of Wuppertal, headed by Prof Dr Manfred Helmus, presented the research project "Modern Construction Management" at the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems "BAU 2025" in Munich. A particular highlight of the trade fair appearance was the visit by Klara Geywitz, Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, who personally informed herself about the pioneering project.

As part of the project, an innovative recommendation tool was developed that uses company key figures to show construction companies how they compare on the market in terms of key labour characteristics such as place of work, working hours, corporate culture and remuneration and what measures can be taken to improve them.

The project, which is funded by the "Zukunft Bau" initiative of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, pursues several key objectives: increasing the attractiveness of the construction management profession, increasing the proportion of women in this occupational field, improving the compatibility of work and family life and minimising the shortage of skilled workers in the construction industry.
