About the unit
The autonomous BIPoC department was founded at the University of Wuppertal in 2021. BIPoC stands for Black, Indigenous and People of Colour - i.e. Black, Indigenous and literally "people of colour", comes from the Anglo-American language area and is intended to bring together people who are not considered white and are exposed to various forms of racism. The department advocates thinking that is critical of racism, wants to give BIPoC students a voice and create a place of safety and exchange.
