"The Department of Sports Medicine and the entire University of Wuppertal wish all athletes, and in particular those who are being cared for in Wuppertal as part of their sports medical examinations and performance diagnostics, all the best and every success for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris," says the department.

The examination centre, which is also licensed by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Sports Association, regularly carries out medical examinations and performance diagnostics for elite athletes. The Olympic participants who are looked after here come from the sports of table tennis, badminton, canoe racing, cycling and swimming as well as the team sports of basketball, handball and hockey.

Even before the Olympics, the chair holder Prof Dr Thomas Hilberg worked as Team Medical Liaison Officer (TMLO) for the European Football Championships. He was responsible for coordinating medical care for the Slovenian national team during their stay in their team quarters in Wuppertal.
