KulturCampus meets Kunsthalle Barmen - and much more

15.01.2025|10:42 Uhr

Arousing enthusiasm for Wuppertal's cultural scene and at the same time teaching skills for cultural project work - these are the aims of KulturCampus Wuppertal, a programme offered by the music education department for all interested students. Two of them, Victoria di Bello and Lilli Haarmann, have designed a performance workshop for young people in this context, the results of which will be presented at the Kunsthalle Barmen on 6 February.

For four days, the participants will explore their own identity formation in the midst of social norms as well as the potential of networking and jointly develop a free performance with elements of visual art, theatre and dance. Interested parties aged between 14 and 20 can find out more on the Instagram account @kulturcampuswuppertal. The project is funded by the Cultural Office of the City of Wuppertal.

The workshops will take place on:

  • Friday, 31 January, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, 1 February, 10 am to 3 pm
  • Tuesday, 4 February, 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 5 February, 5 to 8 p.m.

The tried-and-tested "KulTour" format is also currently being relaunched for 2025. In spring, students will once again have the opportunity to attend various cultural events together at different locations in Wuppertal and discover Wuppertal's rich cultural scene. As soon as dates and events are finalised, all the information will be available on Instagram.

Many other creative ideas from the students are currently being implemented at the KulturCampus in a total of ten projects for different target groups - for example, a pre-Christmas offer to sing together in the Johannesstift has already taken place, a performance of Bodo Wartke's "King Oedipus" in May and an improvisation theatre workshop are currently being prepared. The students will be accompanied by Dr Uta Atzpodien, a cultural professional with a wide range of contacts in the cultural scene, who will provide support at every stage of the project.

The project

The KulturCampus is aimed at all students in the combinatorial Bachelor's programme who are interested in developing artistic, literary, musical and socio-cultural projects. The seminar can be credited in the optional area and starts in the winter semester.
