Digital transformation of the construction and property industry
Her focus areas include the further development and standardisation of various topics in the field of Building Information Modelling (BIM), the development of strategies for digital transformation in companies in the construction and real estate industry as well as process management and the availability of information along the life cycle of buildings, including with the goals of sustainability. In these areas, Anica Meins-Becker is involved in a leading role in national and international standardisation.
Born in Braunschweig, she studied civil engineering at RWTH Aachen University, specialising in structural engineering. From 1999 to 2006, she gained extensive practical experience and studied part-time for a postgraduate degree in industrial engineering "Corporate Management for Civil Engineers and Architects" at the Bauakademie Biberach.
In 2006, Anica Meins-Becker joined the University of Wuppertal as a research assistant. Here she completed her doctorate (2011) and habilitation (2020) under Prof Dr Manfred Helmus. She worked as an Academic Councillor and Senior Councillor at the Department of Construction Management and Construction Industry, headed the "BIM, Digitalisation and Process Management" working group and, from 2021 to 2024, was an adjunct professor at the Institute for the Management of Digital Processes in the Construction and Real Estate Industry (BIM Institute), which was founded at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
