Semester exhibition

Experience design up close - students present creative product solutions

10.03.2025|13:00 Uhr

No everyday life without design: From the kettle in the kitchen to the smartwatch on your wrist to the medicine box - all these products have been designed. But who actually designs them? The Industrial Design semester exhibition on 14 and 15 March provides an insight into this process.

Under the motto "curious", students from the bachelor's degree programme in Industrial Design and the master's degree programme in Strategic Product and Innovation Development will be presenting their current theses and results from the individual study projects of the summer semester.

From the sketch to the prototype

Works from all phases of the programme are on display: from artistic foundations to fully developed product innovations. Visitors can experience how ideas develop - from the first sketch to models and prototypes.

The graduates show how they want to make everyday life easier with their final projects: Are there better solutions for sorting waste at home? How can hobby tailoring be made easier? How can I transport my dog more safely? What could be changed about apnoea masks? Or can pedal boats be made more attractive? These and many other final projects will be presented.

Diverse insights

There will also be an insight into the degree programme's materials laboratory and the "New Urban Production" master's project, which uses the textile industry as an example to explore how production in cities can be rethought.

The exhibition will open on 14 March at 7 p.m. on the Grifflenberg campus in Building I, Foyer Level 13 (access via Fuhlrottstraße 10). It can also be visited there on 15 March from 12 noon to 4 pm.
