Exciting races, close finals and a unique atmosphere at the 2024 German Speed Climbing Championships: Germany's fastest speed athletes came together in Hamburg at the beginning of September to test their strength. Franziska Ritter was not only there, but also the fastest on the 16-metre-high wall. The student from the University of Wuppertal (Transport Engineering) climbed to the title of "German Speed Champion".

The young athlete thus managed to defend her title once again. "It was really special today. Not only does the victory mean an incredible amount to me today, but also that I simply had a lot of fun. From the first minute of the warm-up, I realised that I was feeling good and that I was in for a good day," explained the top BUW athlete shortly after the competition.

Franziska Ritter, competing for the DAV Düsseldorf, qualified for the final round with a time of 7.752 seconds. In the semi-final, she came out on top with a time of 7.514 seconds. In the final, her time for the title finally stopped at 7.287 seconds.

In speed climbing, a form of sport climbing, athletes compete to conquer the 16 metre high climbing wall in the shortest possible time on a standardised climbing route.
