Study without enrolment
Education for all
Taster course catalogue
Prospective students who want to get to know everyday life at the university while still at school or before enrolling on their chosen degree programme, or who want to listen to lectures on specific subjects, will find what they are looking for in the taster lecture directory.
All nine faculties put together comprehensive timetables. More than 600 lectures, seminars and tutorials from subjects such as history, sports science, economics, chemistry, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, media design and primary school teaching will be available in the 2024/2025 winter semester.
The courses can be attended from 21 October, registration is not required. All timetables, information on attending the courses and further information on studying at the University of Wuppertal and counselling services can be found on the Taster course catalogue website.
Guest students
The university is open to anyone who would like to pursue study interests without enrolling on a regular degree programme. This can serve both as orientation before deciding on a degree programme and to acquire knowledge alongside professional commitments or to refresh specialist knowledge without obligation.
Guest students have the opportunity to take part in selected lectures in various subject areas, provided the lecturers agree and capacity does not limit participation. A university entrance qualification (Abitur) is not required. Admission is granted for one semester at a time. Guest students are not authorised to take examinations. They can only receive a certificate of course attendance on request.
The registration deadline for the current winter semester is 15 November. You can register for the coming summer semester until 15 May. The fee per semester is 100 euros. Further information and counselling is available on the website of the Centre for Continuing Education.
Study for older people
The programme is aimed at people who are looking for new challenges or want to realise long-held dreams of studying, deepen their interests or acquire new areas of knowledge. The senior students study together with the young students.
The six-semester programme for seniors covers a broad spectrum of social sciences and humanities, and other subjects can be chosen as supplements. Participants can complete coursework in the form of presentations, written examinations or written assignments and receive a final certificate at the end of the programme. However, senior students also have the opportunity to study purely according to their interests, without taking any coursework or obtaining a final certificate.
Access to the degree programme for older people is open to all older people who wish to continue their education, there is no minimum age requirement and no university entrance qualification (Abitur) is required. Initial registration for the degree programme for older people is only possible for the winter semester and must be completed by 15 November. You can find further information on studying for older people on the website of the Centre for Continuing Education.
