Trees for excellent teaching: University arboretum continues to grow
A total of five ash trees were planted. The Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching, Prof Dr Susanne Buch, and her predecessor, Prof Dr Andreas Frommer, congratulated the lecturers present today as well as absent and former lecturers and tutors.
Students design teaching award
In Prof Gisela Kleinlein's "Experimental Design" seminar, 22 industrial design students developed several designs for the Teaching Lion, the University of Wuppertal's teaching award. The jury selected the group project "Tree Planting" by Lara Aue and Jana Horst as the winning design.
The two students convinced the jury with their very sustainable idea of planting trees - also an enriching addition to the university arboretum. The educational tree trail on the Grifflenberg campus invites visitors to get to know many of Germany's tree species around the university buildings. The names of the honoured individuals and the year of the award ceremony are displayed on a slate plaque in front of each tree. The award winners themselves also received the plaque.
The award for the next five years will be based on the "Pillar of Life" design by the two students Leonhard Quack and Lauritz Scholz. This idea was also developed in a seminar - this time under the direction of Prof Katharina Maderthaner.
