Ludrila Ingrid Kouam Tuedem is this year's recipient of the DAAD Prize of the University of Wuppertal. The business mathematics student is about to complete her bachelor's degree and is involved in voluntary work, including providing free tutoring.

Around 1,800 international students and doctoral candidates from more than 120 countries are currently studying and researching at the University of Wuppertal. Some of them enrich the university community in a special way through their great intercultural and social commitment and excellent academic achievements. To honour this, the University of Wuppertal awards the DAAD Prize (German Academic Exchange Service). This year, the prize goes to Ludrila Ingrid Kouam Tuedem from Cameroon.

The prizewinner has been studying at BUW since October 2021, where she not only attracts attention with her good grades, but also makes a positive impression by actively participating in university events with relevant contributions.

In addition to her academic achievements, Ludrila Ingrid Kouam Tuedem is also socially active, for example at Café Johannis in the Protestant parish of Heckinghausen and at the educational organisation WIPA in Wuppertal. As a volunteer, she supports pupils with difficulties in maths by providing voluntary tutoring. She has also been working as a tutor at the University of Wuppertal for more than a year and a half. She works with fellow students from earlier semesters to consolidate study content and is available to answer questions about content. She is a scholarship holder of the University of Wuppertal Study Foundation.

"Particularly noteworthy: Ludrila Ingrid Kouam Tuedem has prevailed as a Bachelor's student against other applications from significantly higher semesters and from the postdoc phase. This once again emphasises her valuable commitment. She is a great role model for fellow students and especially for the pupils she supervises and accompanies in maths tutoring. Especially at a time when we need more young talent in the natural sciences . As a university, it makes us proud to know that our international network includes great personalities like this year's DAAD award winner. Congratulations!" said Prof Dr Peter Gust, Vice-Rector for Third Mission and International Affairs, at the award ceremony.
