Call for applications Weltlöwe 2023
Call for applications Weltlöwe 2023
Sustainable internationalisation and internationality are key elements for the University of Wuppertal to position itself in global competition in teaching, research and transfer. Throughout the university, a large number of internationally committed academics are working to promote excellent research and teaching in global networks. The establishment of new and consolidation of existing international collaborations, the joint development of innovative research and teaching areas or the conception and establishment of structured study-related international mobility are examples of the diverse activities.
With the Weltlöwe Award, which is now being awarded for the eleventh time, the University of Wuppertal would like to honour the commitment of university members who have made a special contribution to the internationalisation and/or internationality of the university in 2023 and thus encourage others to follow suit. Both exemplary projects initiated in 2023 and already tried and tested cross-border cooperation formats are eligible for the award. The general aim is to consolidate and implement international study content, research collaborations and transfer measures in the long term, thereby increasing the University's visibility in a national and international context.
The target group are professors and academic staff who show or have shown a high level of commitment in this regard.
The prize is awarded by the Rectorate under the leadership of the Vice-Rector for Third Mission and International Affairs via the Academic Board of the International Center (IC). The Weltlöwe is endowed with 6,000 euros. The prize money can be used for international projects in teaching and research. Among other things, it is intended to intensify and specifically support existing activities such as new international collaborations or internationalisation measures.
Members of the University are asked to submit nominations via the Dean's Offices with a brief informal description of the measures implemented, goals pursued or successes achieved. These should be sent to the Vice-Rector for Third Mission and International Affairs via the International Center (icenter[at]uni-wuppertal.de).
The following criteria are decisive for the assessment of the proposals submitted:
- What are the outstanding merits/special commitment of the proposed person?
- To what extent have the measures implemented and goals pursued supported the internationalisation of the University in the long term?
- How many academics or students have benefited or will benefit from the project or how much third-party funding has been raised?
Deadline for submission is Wed, 05 June 2024
