Erasmus+ internship
If you are interested in doing an Erasmus+ internship at the University of Wuppertal /Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW), first find out whether there are internship opportunities suitable for you in the corresponding schools.
You must apply for an internship with your school of choice directly, as the International Office does not arrange internships.
For internship inquiries, we recommend that you send the following documents with your application directly:
- CV / Curriculum Vitae (German or English)
- Letter of motivation (including a short description of your field of interest)
- Acquired certificates (if available)
Once you have received an internship offer and found a suitable supervisor, you have to apply to the university ´s Student Admission and Registration for International Students („Internationales Studierendensekretariat“) for admission and enrolment (application for admission, see Downloads). Enrolment is compulsory for an Erasmus internship at BUW.
If you want to apply for a room in the student dormitory, please send an email to ohneabschluss[at]uni-wuppertal.de. You will then receive a link and further instructions about the application process.
Please remember that you will need health insurance for the duration of your enrolment, which is mandatory in Germany. Furthermore, as an intern you are obliged to take out accident insurance as well as liability insurance, which covers the costs of unintentionally caused damage.
Please note that if you enrol as an exchange student, you will have to pay the full semester contribution of approximately €330,00 per semester (the amount may vary from semester to semester).
This contribution includes, among other things, the semester ticket for public transportation in the entire state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
Please keep in mind that if your internship takes place across two or more semesters, you have to pay the social contribution for each semester. Please refer to our academic calendar (summer term: April – September / winter term: October – March) when making your arrangements.
Important: If you arrive after the start of the semester or leave before the end of the semester, you are entitled to a partial refund of the social contribution fee (i.e. the portion alloted to the semester ticket).
