Convention de stage - Internship Agreement

A form called a "Convention de stage" is usually required for an internship in France. This regulates insurance and data protection issues in particular. Students cannot usually start their internship in France without a completed Convention de stage signed by their home university.

In France, interns are normally covered by accident insurance through their home university. In Germany, on the other hand, accident insurance through the university only applies for as long as the students are at the university; it therefore does not apply to internships abroad and private accident insurance must be taken out for the duration of the stay abroad.

Please note that for legal reasons the BUW is not allowed to sign a company's own convention de stage, but only its own agreement. Please clarify this in advance with your potential internship provider. You can obtain the document from the International Office.

Procedure:

  1. Contact the International Office, which will provide you with the document and fill in the relevant passages.
  2. Then print out 3 originals of the contract and sign it (a scan can also be submitted in advance).
  3. Send all originals to the internship provider for signature.
  4. Finally, submit the contract to the International Office for signature.
