Erasmus+ top-ups for students with fewer opportunities

The new Erasmus+ programme generation 2021-2027 promotes inclusion and diversity in order to achieve more equal opportunities.

Erasmus+ top-ups for students with fewer opportunities

Students who are funded via an Eramus+ scholarship and internship (from 1 October 2022) can also receive the following funding ("top-ups").

Please note that these top-ups are subject to proof. You can find more information on this under "How to apply for top-ups".

Erasmus+ Top-ups

Social top-up "first-time graduates" EUR 250 per month
Social top-up "employed students" 250 EUR per month
Social Top-up "Disability or chronic illness" 250 EUR per month
Social Top-up "Students with child(ren)" 250 EUR per month

Students whose parents have not obtained an academic degree recognised in Germany (university of applied sciences or university) can apply for this top-up.

Students who come from a non-academic background, but who already have their own academic degree, are also eligible for funding.

Evidence:

  • Declaration of honour
  • If applicable, informal information on the educational qualifications of the parents, declaration of honour by the parents

Students who have been in continuous employment subject to social security contributions for at least 6 months prior to the start of their stay abroad and are unable to continue this employment during their stay abroad are entitled to apply for this top-up.

The following regulations apply to employment subject to social security contributions:

  • monthly earnings of EUR 450 - 850
  • Employment for at least 6 consecutive months before the start of the mobility

Students who are self-employed or enrolled on a dual study programme or a part-time study programme with a fixed salary are unfortunately not eligible to apply.

Evidence:

  • Declaration in lieu of honour
  • Salary statements, tax returns, etc., if applicable

Students who have a "degree of disability" of 20 or more or a chronic illness can apply for this top-up.

Evidence:

  • Declaration in lieu of honour
  • If applicable, severely disabled person's pass, medical certificate confirming that there is an additional financial need abroad due to the existing chronic illness

Students travelling abroad with their child/children can apply for this top-up. The additional funding can also be granted for couples.

However, double funding for one child is excluded.

Evidence:

  • Declaration in lieu of honour
  • If applicable, birth certificate of the child, travel documents of the child, etc.

 

Applications for top-ups are made via the declaration of honour, in which you sign a declaration that you meet all the relevant eligibility criteria. Furthermore, it is assured that further evidence can be submitted at the individual request of the university.
